eCoupled Wireless Charging Technology
Experience Life Unplugged
Recharging mobile devices, laptops and power tools can be as simple as setting them down...
Leggett & Platt has partnered with Fulton Innovation to develop applications for Fulton's eCoupledTM technology, an evolution in traditional energy that delivers power through advanced wireless infrastructure. As the low- and medium-power charging side supplier for eCoupled technology, Leggett's partnership with Fulton allows it to extend its use of eCoupled technology across multiple product segments including automotive, residential and commercial furnishing applications.
In partnership with Fulton Innovations and Energizer Battery Inc., Gamber-Johnson has developed an eCoupled charging holster compatible with the Energizer® Hard Case® Professional® eCoupled Swivel Light.
Energizer® eCoupledTM Flashlight and Charging Mount
Gamber-Johnson has partnered with Energizer Battery, Inc. to make an eCoupled charging mount compatible with the Energizer® Hard Case® Professional® eCoupled Swivel Light. The charging mount and flashlight will be sold as a package through Gamber-Johnson.
The charging flashlight mount (Item No. 7160-0232) is molded out of rugged Polycarbonate ABS which allows for the holster to be water resistant and withstand the most rugged environments. The molded holster and spring brackets firmly hold the flashlight in place regardless if it is mounted vertically or horizontally.
The 12 to 18 volt charging system was designed for the rugged mobile environment and wirelessly charges the flashlight even when the engine is shut down. To prevent battery drain the charging mount deactivates at 12.1 volts.
The Energizer® Hard Case® Professional® eCoupled Swivel Light utilizes a NiMH battery pack that can be charged up to 500 times and is designed to work exclusively with the Gamber-Johnson eCoupled charging holster. The flashlight was built to be used in rugged environments – it is water resistant and can withstand a 15 foot drop.
The flashlight has three different LED colors: white LED light for intense illumination that has high and low white spots, red LED for night vision and green LED for pipe inspection. The head of the flashlight rotates 125° to allow flexible lighting angles. The flashlight also includes an integrated belt clip for a hands-free option.
How eCoupledTM Technology Works
eCoupled technology is real, intelligent wireless power that uses inductive coupling to transfer energy from Leggett's surfaces to any eCoupled-compatabile device, eliminating the need for power cords and battery chargers. With eCoupled technology, there's no on or off switch. When an eCoupled-enabled area of the product comes into contact with the eCoupled charging zone, the technology recognizes the product, interprets its power needs and immediately begins to transfer energy.
Copper coils are strategically placed within the charging surface and the device. These coils determine not only the devices power needs, but also the battery life and charging cycles. Intelligent, two-way communication keeps these devices running at peak efficiency without compromising the life of the battery or the life of the device.

Benefits of eCoupledTM Technology
There are many benefits to cutting the cord, but three primary factors stand out:
-
Efficient: Transfers power with a rate greater than 90% efficiency, making it comparable to traditional hard wired charging.
-
Safe: No exposed cords or contacts between charging surface and product.
-
Convenient: Eliminates need for corded chargers and adaptors. Keeps items charged on the jobsite or at home.
