Gamber-Johnson Invests $100,000 in Nexus Public Safety Center to Advance First Responder Training in Central Wisconsin
Gamber-Johnson contributes first $100,000 to Nexus Campaign

Stevens Point, Wis. — October 14, 2026 — Gamber-Johnson LLC is investing $100,000 in the Nexus Public Safety Center at Mid-State Technical College, reinforcing the company’s commitment to public safety professionals and the communities they serve. The contribution will support the development of a regional training and education hub designed to prepare future first responders, strengthen the skills of current personnel and improve collaboration among emergency response agencies throughout Central Wisconsin.

Headquartered in Stevens Point, Gamber-Johnson has supported public safety professionals since its founding in 1954. The company designs and manufactures rugged mounting systems, docking stations and vehicle equipment that help keep essential technology secure and accessible in demanding environments. Its investment in Nexus extends this longstanding commitment by supporting the education, training and professional development of the people who rely on dependable equipment to carry out their missions.

“Supporting first responders has always been an important part of who we are as a company,” said Gautam Malik, CEO of Gamber-Johnson and a Nexus community campaign chair. “Our products help professionals access the technology they need in the field, but their ability to respond effectively also depends on training, preparation and teamwork. We see Nexus as an important investment in those capabilities and in the future of public safety across the region. As a company that has called Stevens Point home for more than 70 years, we’re proud to help support this effort.”

Expanding Opportunities for Hands-On Training

Nexus is a collaborative initiative involving Mid-State Technical College, the City of Stevens Point and regional public safety agencies. The project is designed to bring education, emergency services and practical training opportunities together in a shared environment, helping prepare students for careers in public safety while giving experienced professionals opportunities to strengthen their skills.

The first phase, valued at $32 million, includes a new public safety training facility for Mid-State Technical College, a Stevens Point fire station and a satellite location for the Stevens Point Police Department. Planned features include modern classrooms, simulation labs and shared training spaces that will support instruction and realistic exercises for public safety personnel.

The larger $45 million vision for Nexus will further expand the region’s capacity for specialized, scenario-based training. By creating opportunities for law enforcement, fire and emergency medical services personnel to train together, the center will help foster coordination across agencies and prepare responders to work effectively in complex emergency situations.

Designed to serve a region of more than 172,000 residents, Nexus will also help expand access to public safety education closer to home. The initiative is intended to strengthen the regional workforce by supporting career preparation, continuing education and the development of specialized skills needed across emergency services.

A Local Investment with Regional Impact

For Gamber-Johnson, supporting Nexus is an opportunity to contribute to the long-term strength of the community where the company began and continues to operate. The investment reflects the belief that public safety depends not only on reliable equipment, but also on knowledgeable professionals, effective training and strong partnerships among local organizations.

The company also recognizes the important role that regional businesses and community partners play in bringing projects of this scale to life. Gamber-Johnson encourages other businesses, organizations and individuals to consider supporting Nexus and its goal of strengthening public safety preparedness throughout Central Wisconsin.

“Building safer communities takes sustained commitment and collaboration,” Malik added. “By investing in the people who protect and serve, we can help create more opportunities for learning, stronger partnerships among agencies and a more prepared public safety workforce for years to come.”
