Mission and Guiding Principals
Our purpose and reason for being
Gamber‐Johnson’s mission statement is purposely simplistic yet discretely sophisticated at the same time. These two words, Joyful Growth, reflect what our company sets out to achieve every day. There are four areas of our business that our mission statement is particularly meaningful for:
- People ‐ Our people are at the heart of everything we do; without them, our primary purpose of providing superior value to our customers is impossible! Through our purpose’s successful execution, we deliver growth opportunities for all individuals along the value chain, including our employees, customers, partners, and suppliers.
- Products ‐ New and innovative products are the lifeline for future growth. In being responsive to our customers’ needs, we aim to develop products that meet and exceed their expectations.
- Profits ‐ Our customers must profit from the use of our products. By providing our customers with the best experience and value in the industry, the profits needed to be a self‐sustained and progressive company will be inherent
- Principles ‐ The foundation for our company is the principles by which we conduct business. Only by operating under impeccable standards may we earn our employees’ and customers’ highest level of approval; their trust.
Our Guiding Principles
Our Cause: “Supporting technology to help save the world.”
- Be transparent in all our dealings.
We cannot always disclose everything to everyone but we will always disclose what we can and ensure that it is enough for a stakeholder to make informed decisions. - Always do the right things in the right ways.
If it is the right thing to do, we will do it. We will not trade off short-term benefit if it harms or may potentially harm the future. No compromises on safety or quality. Honor all commitments. Treat everyone fairly. - Empower every employee to contribute in their own best way to Gamber’s success.
We will provide opportunities for employees to grow with the company, enhance their skill set, and contribute meaningfully. - Operate ethically, beyond reproach.
We will never take any action which could be seen by any stakeholder as unethical. - Foster more collaboration and teamwork.
We will strive to reach a consensus where possible and to empower teams at each level of the organization to act within these guidelines to further our Cause. - Strive to always create value and eliminate waste.
Value creation is the key to winning customers and acting lean. - Maintain unerring customer focus and responsiveness.
Without customers, we have nothing. Focusing on and responding to customers’ needs is paramount. - Be goal‐oriented and farsighted.
Using metrics where possible, we will measure progress toward goals and will react definitively and quickly to close any gaps. Keep sight of the big picture ‐ don’t sacrifice long-term gains or create long-term problems for short-term benefits. - Be an employer of choice.
Through executing Joyful Growth and abiding by these guidelines, we will be an employer of choice. - Positively contribute to our community.
We will contribute to the community as a good employer, donor to important causes and by supporting our employees in their volunteer activities. - Foster innovation and embrace change in all phases of Gamber.
Going beyond products, we must innovate in all aspects of the organization or the world will pass us by. Change opens opportunity. Resistance to change brings stagnation and obsolescence. - Improve continuously everywhere in Gamber.
We will practice continuous improvement in everything we do.
Gamber-Johnson is a "Destination Employer"
We believe the decision making should be done by the ones performing the work, with that same mentality these same team-members should be the ones meeting and performing business with our partners around the globe. See some of the first hand stories from these individuals.
Zach’s International Travel
I’m Zach, a Design Engineer in the Cradles & Docks Quick Response Office Cell. Being a part of the Quick Response cell promotes tremendous teamwork and helps us deliver a better overall product to our customers. As an engineer, it is extremely helpful to have other engineers sitting around me who I can bounce ideas off of and get feedback immediately. We can also make critical project decisions very quickly and get that information to the rest of the team. One of the best parts of being a part of the Gamber-Johnson team is having the opportunity to travel; last year, another Quick Response Cell member had the chance to travel to Japan to meet one of our biggest partners.
Japan Trip: We spent a couple of days in Japan working closely with our partners to discuss upcoming product development projects and other critical strategies. Meeting the team I’ve been working with for the past 5 years in person was great. We were lucky to get a personalized tour of their product history museum and outstanding manufacturing facility. It was incredible to see how their products are made and how much work goes into them; I have even more respect for their products now! After the partner visit, our fearless leader (Gautam – President of Gamber-Johnson) surprised us with tickets to ride the Shinkansen (Bullet Train) to Tokyo. During the ride, I tracked our speed, and we traveled around 160 mph (250 kph) the whole ride there, which was mindboggling. Before returning home, we spent 2 days in Tokyo exploring the city and trying all the different foods. It was an experience I will never forget and something I don’t think you’d find at many other companies. Gamber Johnson encourages the team members who work directly with international partners to actually go and visit, which greatly increases our overall relationship with Kanpai!
Canada Trip: Another great experience I’ve had this year was being able to work from our subsidiary company in Canada all winter. I am passionate about snowboarding and have always wanted to travel to the Canadian Rockies in winter. Gamber-Johnson was generous enough to let me work from Precision Mounting Technologies all winter. Monday through Thursday, I was in the office working as normal with the Gamber-Johnson and PMT team, but the long weekends were spent out west in the mountains exploring the most incredible (and extreme) terrain I have ever seen. I was able to work with the engineering team up here and learn how they design products compared to us. I also ran through some 3D printer training with the team to help them expand their prototyping capabilities. Again, this was an experience I would not have gotten at any other company and will be remembered as my favorite winter for years to come. It’s another example of what makes Gamber-Johnson a great place to work!
Kari’s International Travel
I’m Kari, and I’m the Quality Manager. After working in the medical device packaging, pharmaceutical, and dietary supplement industries for 20+ years, partnering with some of the largest companies in those industries, I decided to make an industry switch and came to Gamber-Johnson because of their reputation as an area leading employer. Spending most of my career in Quality in highly regulated facilities has allowed me to understand the need for process-driven, systematic, and efficient procedures. Also, several former partners were distributed to or were located in the Asia-Pacific ring, so I understand the driving factors behind high-quality, aesthetically pleasing products.
Sweden: I could travel to one of our partners located on the outskirts of Stockholm. Meeting the people distributing our product to a world leader in large construction equipment was fantastic. I toured this distribution facility and better understood how this product is packaged and distributed. After my visit to the distribution partner, I explored Stockholm and the surrounding area, including where some of my ancestors immigrated from.
Amsterdam: I have been fortunate enough to visit our 3PL warehouse in Amsterdam twice. This location distributes the bulk of our products to our European market. While at the facility, I learned of the challenges of distributing products to many different countries, all with their own regulations regarding the products, the packaging components used to ship the product, and the logistical challenges of running a 3PL. While in Amsterdam, I could tour the city’s oldest sections via train, moped, and foot.
Krista’s International Travel
I’m Krista, and I’m the Customer Support Manager at Gamber-Johnson. In 2018, I had the opportunity to attend the ESS trade show in the UK. It was great meeting so many face-to-face customers I have worked with, mostly through email. While there, I could also see the different vehicles being used compared to those at home and bring back some ideas for future product development. While I was in the UK, I visited London, where I saw the changing of the guard at Windsor Castle and rode the London Eye observation wheel to get a sky view of London Bridge and Big Ben.
Darrell’s International Travel
Traveling internationally has never been something I would have thought about early in my career, but Gamber-Johnson has open opportunities to do so as we support a global market and have many partners in other countries. I am Darrell Martin, the Marketing Manager for Team GJ, comprising Gamber-Johnson, PMT, Premier Mounts, Zirkona, InfoCase, and Lind Electronics. Overseeing all these brands, I have the opportunity to collaborate with many OEM partners and other business partners to market our products and align initiatives to support our customers.
Taipei, Taiwan: In 2023, myself and a few others from GJ traveled to Taipei and met with some of these business partners as well as the entire Getac corporate team. Although I collaborate regularly with the Getac marketing team, it was a great opportunity to meet in person and discuss some plans to improve our relations in the future. While visiting the city for business, there were plenty of opportunities to experience the local culture and adventure at some attractions. I was most impressed with the amount of historic temples, local night markets, and the Taipei 101 tower.
COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
Our team members understand that the company’s success is directly tied to the well-being of the communities in which they operate and serve. We may be situated in the heart of rural Wisconsin, but our social responsibility and community outreach not only extend far beyond the town, but also beyond the state.
As we have grown over the years, so has our ability to support the causes and organizations that are near and dear to the hearts of team members, their families, product resellers, and end users. Community support and stewardship activities have presented many benefits, including team building and talent attraction, higher employee morale, improved collaboration, relationship building, and much more.
POSITIVELY CONTRIBUTING TO OUR COMMUNITY
Since 2020, Gamber-Johnson has made charitable contributions totaling over $250,000 to 20+ different Charities.
Gamber-Johnson is also proud to support our team members by matching employee charitable contributions of $25 or more to a maximum of $500 per employee per calendar year. Through this program, we proudly support the charitable organizations most near and dear to our team member’s hearts.
